Fully Persuaded

Teachable Woman Podcast Show Notes
Episode Title: Fully Persuaded
Introduction: Welcome back to the Teachable Woman Podcast! Reverend Michele Owes and Reverend Diana P. Cherry are excited to be with you again, sharing words of encouragement and faith. Despite technical challenges, we stand firm in our belief that God makes us overcomers. In this episode, we explore what it means to be "fully persuaded" in our faith and how unwavering belief in God's promises can transform our lives.
1. Understanding "Fully Persuaded"
- The concept of being fully persuaded means having complete confidence, with no doubts, in God's word and promises.
- Romans 4:21 states that Abraham was "fully persuaded that what God had promised, He was also able to perform."
- Trusting God means believing that He will fulfill His promises, just as Abraham did.
2. The Strength of Our Will
- Our will is a powerful force given by God, distinguishing us from all other creations.
- Persuasion comes from our mind and our will; we must choose to believe in God’s power and plan.
- To be persuaded means to have strong belief, to be won over, and to be confident in God's ability.
3. Overcoming Doubt and Fear
- The world is full of distractions and negativity that can shake our faith.
- The importance of focusing on God's word rather than being consumed by daily news and societal worries.
- Being fully persuaded requires tuning out fear and uncertainty and tuning in to God's truth.
4. Trusting in God's Provision
- Matthew 6 reminds us that if God provides for the birds and clothes the lilies of the field, He will take care of us.
- We often worry about things we shouldn't—our job is to trust God and not carry burdens meant for Him.
- Romans 14:5 emphasizes that every person should be fully persuaded in their own mind about their faith.
5. Walking in Faith Like Abraham
- Abraham was asked to leave everything familiar—his country, family, and comforts—to follow God.
- Obedience requires stepping out before seeing the full picture, just as Abraham did.
- When God asks us to move or change, it may be an opportunity for greater blessings.
6. Holding On to God's Promises
- Romans 8:28: "We know that all things work together for good to them that love God."
- Even in uncertain times, we must believe that God is working for our good.
- Change can be difficult, but trusting God's plan leads to greater blessings.
7. Encouragement and Final Thoughts
- Romans 8:37: "In all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us."
- Our value is not determined by our job, title, or paycheck but by God's love.
- Jesus intercedes on our behalf, ensuring that we can conquer life's challenges through faith.
- Paul’s declaration in Romans 8:38: "For I am persuaded..." encourages us to have personal conviction in our faith.
Conclusion:
No matter what life throws at us, we can be fully persuaded that God is in control. Lean on His promises, trust in His provision, and walk in the confidence that He is working all things together for our good. Stay encouraged, stay faithful, and be fully persuaded in the power and love of God!

Fully Persuaded
[00:00:00]
Rev. Michele Owes: Welcome, welcome, welcome back to the Teachable Woman Podcast. We are so excited to be back with you again today. Mrs. Cherry and I are smiling from ear to ear over the thought that we are able to share with you. We are also smiling ear to ear, because of the technical challenges that we have overcome in order to be with you.
Rev. Michele Owes: So we're excited that we serve a God who makes sure that we are overcomers if we just don't quit.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Amen.
Rev. Michele Owes: We didn't faint. We showed up. Amen. I am with the one and only Reverend, Mrs. Deanna P. Cherry. Please welcome our podcast family.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Hello Podcast family. You are God's best. We love you. We appreciate you and we sure hope we're going to see all of you very, very soon. Remember to be the best you can be and do [00:01:00] the best you can do. And if you do that, my husband would say you're excellent. God bless you, God's best.
Rev. Michele Owes: Amen. Amen. Well, we are excited again to be with you. In our last podcast, we talked about the fact that God has a purpose and plans for our lives. We indicated that we will not all do the same things, and we won't do the same thing for every day of our lives. Save love the Lord with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. According to scripture in the Book of Genesis, we are to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, and to subdue it. And then we chuckled over the fact that the biggest job we'll have is to subdue ourselves because we can be more than a notion in our thoughts and our in our deeds sometimes, and even in our [00:02:00] actions. We're going to be working on subduing our vessels as well, but what we're going to talk about in our new podcast series is being fully persuaded today. That is our topic. What does it mean to be fully persuaded? Just in the natural? It means that we don't have any doubts about a situation that we're confident as it relates to scripture. We're going to look at Romans chapter number four, in Romans chapter number four verse 21 talks about the fact that was fully persuaded. It says, and being fully persuaded that what he. I'm sorry, I'm will read that from the Bible because what I wrote in my notes is not the same. And being fully persuaded that what he had promised, he [00:03:00] was able also to perform, meaning that Abraham was fully persuaded that God who had made promises to him, was able to perform them. If we go back to verse number three in that same chapter, number four, it says, for what sayeth the scripture, Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness. When we believe God and we do not have doubts about his word, not have doubts about his ability, not have doubts about his power, then it is imputed unto us as righteousness. To be fully persuaded means that we are completely assured that we most surely believe, we’ve seen full proof, and have seen God fulfill [00:04:00] his word time and time again. We are well acquainted with his faithfulness to carry out fully and that there's evidence. That it was carried out. Abraham had some experiences with God, who instructed him in the Book of Genesis to leave his family, to leave his country, to leave his kindred and go to a place that he would show him and told him that he would bless him to be a blessing. His name at that time was Abram. He obeyed God, and his name was changed to Abraham. God also told him that he would be the father of many nations. He had some experiences with God. How many of us would go to a place that God would show us? In other words, you got to get up. You got to start moving before God [00:05:00] reveals to you what it is that he desires for you to know.
Abraham had that kind of confidence and belief in God's word. What God needs of us today, in this ever-changing nation in which we live, is to be fully persuaded, have full confidence, belief, no doubt in him as God and his faithfulness toward us. That can be a challenge if we're listening to the news every day, if we're a part of the conversation at the water fountain in the break room. And if what we're hearing not God's word and not things to keep us fully engaged with who he is and what he's able to do for his people, then we may find that we lack [00:06:00] peace.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: Alright, Ms. Cherry, take us away.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Okay. I was just thinking that word persuaded, persuasion comes from the mind of man. In the mind is the will of man, and the will of man is the strongest force in operation in the earth realm, other than the power of the Holy Spirit. For mankind, our will is the strongest force in operation in us, and our will is our divine center of choice.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: God gave us a will. Our will makes us distinctively different from everything else that God created. That is the thing that distinguishes us. Now, God said that all the birds would fly, that all the fish would swim, that all the cows would mooo and the cats would meow and they do it. It’s automatic.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: But when he made [00:07:00] man, he commanded man to do what he said. When he commanded man, he activated our free choice. And so now man's out of his will. He can use his will to serve God, he can will not to serve God. As we're helping you or teaching you on being fully persuaded. We want you to be persuaded in your mind, in your will.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: We want you to, whatever you're facing. That word persuaded means to change your mind. Persuaded means a strong belief. It means that you have been won over, won over by God. You're going to do what God says and not worry about what man does. To be persuaded means that you're convinced that you have confidence in, and it also means that we have been brought [00:08:00] to see the light.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: For those of us who are born again Christians, we have been brought to see the light, so we have to succumb. And overcome, overcome fears, overcome doubts, and just succumb to the word of God. Know that God's got us. It might not seem like it, but God's got us just. Surrender to him have confidence. If God said it, he's going to do it.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: We don't have to cry and scream and all that kind of stuff. God said it. His word is supreme and whatever he said he's going to do. So Reverend Owes, and I want you to be fully persuaded Christians, that God's going to do what he said he was going to do. That God is who he says he is. That his Holy [00:09:00] Spirit is who He says that he is.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: That we have the grace of God, the omnipotent power of God operating on our behalf and we are, can do Christians, we can do the word of God.
Rev. Michele Owes: Amen.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: We can do what God has given us to do. We know that these are trying times, but I want you to be encouraged. Reverend Owes wants you to be encouraged. We are fully persuaded that God can do what he said he is going to do and he and he will do it and we can rest in that.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: So we just want to encourage you.
Rev. Michele Owes: Amen. We, he. Indicated that he would take care of the birds. He indicated that he would take care of everything that he has
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes.
Rev. Michele Owes: we are not to be concerned about
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Right.
Rev. Michele Owes: The lilies of the field are clothed. God will make sure that we are clothed and [00:10:00] the birds of the air don't worry about how or what they're going to eat. We will be nourished. There's so much that we can borrow that we ought not borrow.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yeah.
Rev. Michele Owes: We ought to leave it to the Lord.
Rev. Michele Owes: He can address it. In Romans chapter number 14, verse number five, it says, one man esteemeth one day above another, another esteemeth every day alike. In other words, we hold one man in high esteem one day and another in high esteem another day, and it just switches off.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes, yes.
Rev. Michele Owes: But he said also, let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regarded the day, regarded it unto the Lord and he that regarded not the day to the Lord. He does not.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: So in [00:11:00] other words, you and I have to give thanks unto the Lord in all things and we have to regard, be mindful of, think of, and concentrate on the things of the Lord. The word of the Lord will encourage us due season. There are many situations that we are facing. Every day that we turn on the news, there's something different that's happening in our nation that's going to affect a whole other group set of people, whether it's the jobs, whether it's the economy, whether it is the market. Whether it is, if you are a state employee, whether it's it's on and on and on and on, it can be so exhausting. So it is so important that we know what we believe and that we are [00:12:00] fully persuaded
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: is God's
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: because he has been faithful. If we just look back over our own lives, we can see his faithfulness toward us, and we are still here today. Whether you had a potato or a potato chip, he's still faithful we're still here today and he is still God. His word is still true. He has numbered every hair on your head. Yes. Even the ones that we have lost overtime. He will perfect those things that concern us and so we can cast those cares up on the Lord. Because he does care for us.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Amen.
Rev. Michele Owes: And every time something nonsensical comes on, we need to say, Lord, I'm casting the care. I trust you and believe in your word. You said you'll perfect the things that concern me. What's going on in our nation concerns me, Jesus. But I [00:13:00] have to leave it.
Rev. Michele Owes: It is by your power and it's by your might. It is by your Spirit. I am leaning up on the you Lord to solve this problem
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yeah.
Rev. Michele Owes:. Now, I have some ideas, but my thoughts are not your thoughts and my ways are not your ways. I dare not introduce to you what I'm thinking 'cause you already know my thoughts are far off. However, God, I know you can and will do
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes, yes. I I wanna share with you in one of the podcasts. Now, it might be one that didn't get to you. It might be one that stayed up in the cloud wherever those podcasts went that we did. So we worked so hard on, but, but I wanna remind you, we'd given you an assignment and was outta Romans, and we had encouraged you to read the book of Romans, and particularly verse number 28, and.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: And verse number 28 says, we know. We know [00:14:00] without a doubt, we're fully persuaded. We know that all things work together for good to them, that love God. Do you love God to them who are called according to his purpose? If we love God, if we're doing the will of God, if we're doing the work of God, we have to be fully persuaded.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: That whatever happens, it's gonna work together for good. It might not look good, it might not feel good, but we have to believe that whatever it is, it's going to work together for good. Now I want you to think about Abraham. Can you imagine the conditions back then and God appears to him and tells him to leave his family, leave everything and what God.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: I asked him to do really was to leave everything that was familiar, everything that was secure, and everything that was comfortable. [00:15:00] Now, some of us might be asked to leave some things that are comfortable and secure, but trust me,
Rev. Michele Owes: Yeah.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: you will not be sent to a place that's going to be as, different as what Abraham was sent to.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Wherever you go in this country, unless they ship you out of the country, you're probably gonna have running water and electricity and you're gonna have, you're gonna have some basic things. So I really, I. Yeah. Flushing toilet, which I did not grow up with. But listen, we have to trust God to get us through these things.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: I know in my heart that some of us we're going to be moved. We don't want to move. We don't want to leave where we are, but all things will work together for good. If you trust God, if you're fully persuaded, don't rebel. Accept. Where you might be sent to, you might find out that it's a whole lot better than what it was.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: You [00:16:00] might find out that you'll have a better house that doesn't cost as much as the one that you're living in now. Maybe in a city you might find that you have a job. It might not be a good government job, but it might be an excellent private industry job. And the thing that we just want you to know. Is that trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not unto your own understanding and all of your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Don't be dismayed,
Rev. Michele Owes: Amen.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: be complaining. Don't be God might be trying to bless you with the biggest blessing you ever had in your life. Because what's happening might not look good, might not feel good, might not act good, but all things work together for good. And then read Romans eight, we, I want to remind you again, what shall we say to these things?[00:17:00]
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: If God before us who can be against us, he didn't spare his only son, Jesus Christ, but he gave him up to death on the cross so that by his death we could have life. Don't disdain the life you have. Don't even consider ending your life. That is your life that God gave you. Whatever it is, it's not. Yes, it's not going to be that bad.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Put on the correct thinking, put on the fact that you're persuaded that God's going to take care of you. He's gonna provide for you, he's gonna protect you, he's going to make you productive. Just take a minute. Enjoy the week that they kicked you out of your job. The courts are working on your behalf. Many of you have been called back to those jobs.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Just don't give up. Whatever it is, it's not worth your giving up. Be strong in the [00:18:00] Lord and in the power of his might be encouraged and let me stop preaching.
Rev. Michele Owes: listen, your life has value and our value is not determined by the title or the amount of money that we receive on our paycheck. Our value was set by our Heavenly Father.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes,
Rev. Michele Owes: He found us so valuable that he allowed his son to die for us.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: yes, yes.
Rev. Michele Owes: Then he raised him again from the dead so that he could be an intercessor for us.
Rev. Michele Owes: He intercedes on our behalf. Jesus Christ is praying to the Father on our behalf, and all we must do is just obey. In that same chapter of Romans, which is chapter eight that Mrs. Terry was reading from, I want to share what Paul said at the end of
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes.
Rev. Michele Owes: In chapter number in chapter eight, verse number 37 Paul said, nay,
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yeah. All these things.
Rev. Michele Owes: we are more than [00:19:00] conquerors Through him.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes,
Rev. Michele Owes: That loved us.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: yes.
Rev. Michele Owes: In other words, we're able to conquer the issues that arise in our lives.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yeah. Yeah.
Rev. Michele Owes: Not because of who we are, but because of the love of Christ Jesus. Because God so loved us, we're able to overcome all of these and be more than conquer us. And then he went
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes.
Rev. Michele Owes: verse number 38 for I am persuaded, , not my mama's persuaded, not daddy's persuaded, not Aunt Betty, but I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, not height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Amen.
Rev. Michele Owes: Now, if [00:20:00] nothing can separate us from the love of God,
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes.
Rev. Michele Owes: we have to know we care for the people we love,
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes.
Rev. Michele Owes: And God cares for us. So, let's cast these cares upon him because he cares for us. Cherry, I think we have brought ourselves to the end of this podcast. We want to remind you we will be gathering here in H Town, the city of Houston, July the 17th, through the 20th.
Rev. Michele Owes: We invite you to join us. We are working on, fully persuaded women who will pray unto the Father. We are looking to develop a cadre of women who will pray heaven down, up on our nation, on our families, in our personal lives, and in our situations. So, join us. The Lord hath need of thee. We look forward to seeing you there.
Rev. Michele Owes: You can go to [00:21:00] teachable woman.com and learn more
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes. Remember, there's nothing in life and nothing in death that can separate us from God. Because when we die, we go to be with him. Be strong in the Lord. Don't let anybody, no matter what kind of house they live in, pluck your nerves. You're victorious, you're mighty. You're overcomers. Love you.
Rev. Michele Owes: Love you. Talk to you soon.
