Fully Persuaded That God Cares for Me
Reverends Michele Owes and Diana P. Cherry
[00:00:00]
Rev. Michele Owes: Welcome back to the Teachable Woman Podcast. We are excited to be with you today. Thank you for allowing us into your homes, cars, or wherever you listen to our podcast. We are excited to have you as a member of our podcast family. Mrs. Cherry, please say hello.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Hello, Podcast family. I guarantee you by the word of God that if you listen to these podcasts, take them to heart, study the scripture that we give you or suggest that you study, and d the things that we recommend that you do, your life will be changed to be unchangeable. And you can make your life make a difference in hundreds of thousands of others*.
Rev. Michele Owes: Amen. Thank you for that. Mrs. [00:01:00] Cherry on our, we've been talking about being fully persuaded on our last podcast, we gave you a natural example of how not to bring the past into the present. We talked 3about the fact that we have to be fully persuaded that God loves us, that his love for us does not fail. And even though we may not see things exactly how we want to see them done or in the timing that we would have them done, that does not mean that God does not love us. It's just an indication that our timing is not his timing. So we want to know daily that God loves me and you, and we also want to be fully persuaded that God forgives us. None of us are perfect. The Bible tells us that we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. Even when 00:02:00, we do not think we're sinning; we can be in the wrong position with God. So, sin is anything that causes us to be out of alignment with God. And so, but God is faithful and he is Jesus. To forgive and cleanse us, love our sins, and of all unrighteousness. So we know that there's a battle in the mind. Paul told us that there's always a war in the members and there's a battle in the mind as to whether or not we're going to do the will of God or do what we want.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: And often what we want to do is contrary to what God would have us do,
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: And so no matter what state we're in. We know that if we have not obeyed God or outright sinned, he is faithful and just to cleanse us of all unrighteousness, and he's going to forgive our sins, so we don't want to carry the weight. [00:03:00] Yesteryear into today. We don't want to carry the weight from five minutes ago or 30 seconds ago. We have to leave it there, allow God to forgive us, and then hang tight for the cleansing. Amen. Because God will demonstrate himself
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yeah.
Rev. Michele Owes: We ask him how to cleanse the cause. Is that right, Mrs. Cherry?
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: You got that right. No matter what goes on, you have to be confident. God loves you. God has forgiven you. We will share with you today just how much God cares for you. In first Peter, chapter five, verses number six and seven, it says, humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God. And he may, that he may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon him because he carried [00:04:00] for you.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: But be sober. Be vigilant because you're adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour. He can't devalue. We will resist him steadfastly in the faith because we know that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren in the world. So we cast our care upon God because God cares for us.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Can you imagine that? A great, mighty, mighty God, he cares about little old me and little old you. So cast your care on him. He is bigger than us. Trust me, he can deal with it better than we can. So just ca when you, when you cast it, just get a picture in your [00:05:00] mind that you're out at the edge of a lake and you have a fishing rod.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Don't care whether you ever fished a day in your life, and I want you in the, in the, in your mind to take that baby and draw it back and throw it, cast it as far as you can, cast it, and then say, oh. I'm so glad I can cast my care on you because you care for me. And do it. Just do it.
Rev. Michele Owes: That is an exciting thought to cast your care. If you've never been fishing, I'm sure you've thrown a rock or so in your lifetime, and you gave it everything you had. Some of you threw a shot put, or you played baseball, you know how to throw a thing, so just cast that thing away. cares for
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yeah.
Rev. Michele Owes: So we want to just talk briefly about being fully persuaded that God cares for me.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes. [00:06:00]
Rev. Michele Owes: We must be fully persuaded in our mind that God cares you. He cares about everything that involves you. And he said to cast your chairs with an S up
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: because he cares for you. And you know, I think there's sometimes Mr. Chair, sometimes we feel like we can some things and we can do this thing and we may not need to cast this thing.
Rev. Michele Owes: I was working on situation at work and we were going through all of the stages of what was required for us to get it done and. then one day I just pushed him and it's like, Lord, I know that you know all things and you know how to work this situation out in this situation, out in this situation out. And the next, I went into work, and it was just me, [00:07:00] all of this. Trying to work through all of these stages, Andes, when all I had to do was pray and would've so swiftly, and I mentioned it to my boss, and I said, trying to exercise. Trying to use my strength, if you will, I could have just cast the care. You may not be like me. You may cast every care. You may understand that God knows he sees and understands all. You may never waste your time, if you are, if you find yourself like me, just trying to work through some things and being heavy laden sometimes about some things, just cast your care upon the Lord. Pray. Ask that his will be done. Ask him to show you how to do what you need to do, what is best, and what his will is, and he will absolutely [00:08:00] show you and share it with you. And if you find that you wasted a lot of time trying to do things on your own, just forgive yourself. And as Ms.
Rev. Michele Owes: Cherry told us, last podcast, move on.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yeah, yeah. Move on. Listen, we don't have to understand everything or have evidence for everything. Just believe it. Just believe it. You have a divine center of choice, which is what I call our will, and that divine center of choice was given to you and given to me by God. So you don't have to understand everything or to have evidence of everything.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Just believe God. Just believe God and have complete confidence. Be Fully persuaded that God. Cares for me and you. There is a message that my husband did not get to [00:09:00] teach, and the title of it was Insignificant to Man. Significant to God. No matter what you think about yourself, you are significant to God because God has a plan and a purpose for your life, and God wants to intervene in your affairs.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: So, please be fully persuaded that God cares, if you heard the story last podcast about the young lady who was moved upon to preach a message. If you heard that story, how God sovereignly sent my husband from Heaven to pray for her. God knows He hears, he sees and he cares, so cast the care upon him.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: He's got, really, really big shoulders and [00:10:00] he can handle things that would just crush us. So as the popular saying goes, let go and let God, he can do it because we love him. He loves us. So be persuaded that he cares for you and me.
Rev. Michele Owes: Amen. You know, when your children were small, don't know if you have children or any children that you cared for, for a while when you were sending them off to school, you made sure that everything they needed was in that backpack. You had lunch packed. You separated the cold items from the hot items, you had the pencils, and you made sure the homework was there.
Rev. Michele Owes: You confirmed everything with them before they could do it for themselves. You took care of
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: You bathed, fed, and dressed them. You dropped them off at school. You talked to the [00:11:00] teachers. You, you were there to pick them up. You did everything. And if we can do that for our children, how much more will God do for us?
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: There's so much more power, might, wisdom, and understanding, and he's omnipresent everywhere. There's so much more that God can do for us than we can do for ourselves. Matthew, in the six-chapter, verse number 25, he says, therefore,
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes.
Rev. Michele Owes: You, take no thought for your life. What you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor yet for your body, what you shall put on, not the life more than meat and the body more than Raymond the fouls of the air, for they so not, neither do they reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: Which of you by [00:12:00] taking thought can add one cubit to his stature. Why take the thoughts for arraignment? The lilies of the field while they grow. They toil not. Neither do they spin. And yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: God is saying, I have taken care of everything.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: I've ensured that everything I created could survive and even thrive, and I can do the same for you. And the next time we get, we get in a position where we feel anxious or we're about to worry, or we can see our thoughts trailing off into a place that doesn't demonstrate that we're fully persuaded that God would care for us. Look out the window, find a bird. And know that if God [00:13:00] is taking care of him and feeding him or her, he can do the same for you. You know, find a flower and just think of it. And think of how beautiful it is and how God can take care of the flower. He can certainly take care of you. So we want to remember and be fully persuaded that God tears for us, even the little things. cares for us.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: Is
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yes he does. And the other part of that verse in Matthew, keep on reading it says, forget about that stuff, but seek. Ye first, the Kingdom of God
Rev. Michele Owes: Yes,
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. This is a time that a lot of us are losing a lot of things and a lot of stuff, but focus on once again, obeying [00:14:00] God, seeking God.
Rev. Michele Owes: Yeah.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: seek first the kingdom of God. Seek his righteousness and whatever it is that you might think that you're losing or that you really believe that you've actually lost, seek God. Trust God, God. Cares for you. Cast the care of it on him. Honor him. Don't act like the world now and give somebody a piece of your mind.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: You don't have enough mind to share. Don't be, wagging your head, pointing your finger, and putting your hands on your hips, but trust. God, obey God, seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness. Be a positive influence amid all the nasty, dirty stuff people do to you.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: I know it hurts, but cast it on him. He can handle it. We can't. We're going to have a heart attack or [00:15:00] a stroke if we try to carry all the stuff that's happening now. Every day it's something new. It’s just piling on, piling on, piling on. But remember, God made us, and we are made for tough times, which are just an opportunity to show off for God.
Rev. Michele Owes: Amen.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Say, for God I live, for God I die. Blessed be the name of God. God takes these cares. I'm casting them off on you cause I know you care for me. I know I love you. I know you love me. I know you've forgiven me and there's nothing that I can do with any of this mess and stuff. I will continue to seek the kingdom first, and I will seek to be righteous and obey you.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: And I'm just going to stand back and watch and see what you're going to do. Because he's going to do it.
Rev. Michele Owes: Unfold. Verse three out of chapter six of Matthew, [00:16:00] verse number 34 says, take no thought for tomorrow.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: No thought. Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: No thought for tomorrow. How many of us can say that we've done that? That's just plain disobeying. We are all off into tomorrow, next week, next month, next year. He said, take therefore no thought for the marvel, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself, sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. This is why we get new mercies every morning, and grace that is sufficient. Listen next week; we must cast those cares and trust in the Lord.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yeah. 44. Yeah, 44 years ago yesterday, we were called into the ministry, and that scripture was one of the scriptures that the Lord gave us. And a few days later, he revealed to us where it was because we didn't know anything [00:17:00] about the Lord, the Bible, the Holy Ghost, or anything else. But God showed us where that scripture was and that scripture became the hallmark of our ministry.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: And we have never been a ministry that sought stuff and things, but we've always taught our people to seek God and cast our care on God, and God would take care of us if we obey him. He will certainly give us the reward that's due us for our obedience. So that scripture is very profound to me, and it's a scripture that guided our lives in ministry.
Rev. Michele Owes: Amen. So understand that God has not forgotten you. His care for you is not shorthanded, and he's not shortsighted. The Bible tells us that he never sleeps and he never slumbers. He may not answer in the moment that you desire, [00:18:00] but he always answers. So keep your heart open. Keep your mind open, and look for God doing wonderful things in your life. You may be looking for a new job, but God strengthens your relationship with your family, strengthens your relationship with your husbands. You're able to see not put an S on. Money or your wife if you are male, listening, your relationship with your children against the way of while we're looking, out things for us that he so desires that are far more valuable than the things that we're seeking. And sometimes we are just seeking a new job or seeking new income, but God is seeking
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: He's seeking another way to demonstrate his unconditional love to
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Mm-hmm.
Rev. Michele Owes: so that you can demonstrate unconditional love to your [00:19:00] family, so that the unit that he desires to glorify his name in the earth, which is your family unit, you all can be about your father's business. So things happen for a reason. All things can work together for good, for those who are called and for those who love the Lord. So let's focus on loving the Lord, focus on hearing his voice, studying his word, and remembering that he cares for me. So if they call you in to say that they have just dismantled your department, just remember that God cares.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Amen.
Rev. Michele Owes: Just remember that He can make a way out of no way. Just remember that man is not your source, that God is your source. Leave the meeting with the peace of mind that God has you, only you, you and your [00:20:00] family, and listen, you are not going to be able to figure it out. Because we have a tendency, well, how am I gonna do this? You are not going to do it, God is doing it? you have to trust that he's able to do it. And our next is, our next topic is, I must be fully persuaded that God is trustworthy. God is trustworthy. We oftentimes judge him like we do the people that we know. In this world, people who make promises and don't keep them. People who leave us, and people who do forsake us, and people who said they loved us and then all of a sudden they didn't love us anymore, and people who said they would be with us and look out for us, and they didn't look out for us. We judged God oftentimes by the human beings that we know. And he's not the same. is not the same. He is God. Almighty. He's the creator of all things and of all men, he's the creator. But we [00:21:00] didn't all take on his ways. So those people who left you or deserted you or lied to you, or didn't stay with you, don't. It's just those people, not
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Yeah.
Rev. Michele Owes: So don't hold him hostage to what others have done.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: When folks say things to you, do things to you and are unkind to you, I want you to do something. I want you to say to yourself, God cares for me. I will cast my care upon him because I know in my heart, whatever it is, all things work together for good because I love you, Lord. And I trust you and I'm going to obey you.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Just try it. Talk to God like that. Put him in remembrance of his word. God loves you. God forgives you. God cares for you. And [00:22:00] God is worthy of our trust. No man is, but God is.
Rev. Michele Owes: Amen. And that brings us to the end of this podcast. Mrs. Cherry and I are looking so forward to seeing you in Houston, Texas, July 17 through 20. I want you to know that our programming portion will end. At about three o'clock on the 19th. So if you need to get out of Dodge before the 20th, you can do so. The 20th is Sunday morning, and we want everybody to be in their own house of worship, if it's possible. Or join us at From the Heart Church Ministries of Houston while you are in town. We are looking forward to seeing you. We are planning for you. We are praying about it. We are doing everything that God would have us do so that we can have a wonderful time together. And here's another benefit. You can bring your husband if you want to.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Amen.
Rev. Michele Owes: That last will be live-streamed, and husbands are allowed to join us. Alright.
Rev. Diana P. Cherry: Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not unto your own understanding, and all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your path. And that's the title of my new book, my Autobiography, A Woman Directed by God.
Rev. Michele Owes: Amen. We love it. See you on the next podcast.
